Question : Connected a Monitor to AIX 5.3 server IBM 7028-6C4 but the server does not let me in

Guys,
Strange problem.
i have AIX 5.3 on  IBM 7028-6C4 machine.  I need a console so I connected a monitor and keyboard to this server and rebooted the server.
While rebooting i could see on the monitor saying     "unmounting file systems"  "closing network connections"  etc.

After reboot I get the  "Welcome to Servername scree"  asking me to enter my username   after i enter the username (root) it prompts me for password and upon entering the password, strangely  it again takes tme to welcome screen and asks me to enter user name.

I dont know whats happening.
I can telnet into the box.

Answer : Connected a Monitor to AIX 5.3 server IBM 7028-6C4 but the server does not let me in

attempt to fix host name resolution over telnet.
name resolution problems messes up remote XDMPC chooser connections in similar way. so my hints followed.
