Question : Easy q - How to embed an image into an Outlook XP email?

I'm using MS Outlook 2002 for Office XP.  I want to do the following:

1. Include a *.bmp signature picture at the bottom of each outgoing email (I can use *.jpg if necessary)
2. THe image has to be embeded so that the receipient can see it and not an icon

What is the correct way of doing this?

I did it by inserting an object and then selecting bitmap, as opposed to inserting a file, item or signature.  Am I doing this correctly?
Secondly, in the drawing box that appears in the email, I select EDIT and PASTE FROM, and then select the bmp file I want to insert.

However, when I then select send to send the email, the email sits in my outbox for ages.  Trust me, its not a problem with my ISP or mail settings, because any other regular email I send which doesnt have my signature bmp file, gets sent straight away.  Furthermore, a 44k bmp file, makes the email exactly 1 meg in size.  I mean, what the hell is that all about!?

THe scan itself file size wise is small, but when graphically displayed in the email, is huge and I have to drag to reduce its size.

ANy ideas on how to get this to work satisfactorily without any large sized emails? I thought if the file size is 44k., the email will not be much bigger in overall size.

Thx.

Dan

On Outlook XP - Go to Tools - Options.
Under the Mail Format tab - choose HTML & hit Apply & OK.

that should change that & activate everything.  But still do not forget to update your Office programs.
