Question : Unable to boot from CD to format Win XP drive to install Win 2000

I am working with an Acer Travelmate 341, which shipped with Win 98, but Windows XP was installed on the 6 gig NTFS drive, by an unathorised user.

In order to format the drive, and re-install Windows 2000 I need to boot from an external CD or floppy. Sadly, I do not have the Windows Xp disk, but I have created a bootable Windows 2000 CD.

However the system will NOT Boot from the Windows 2000 setup CD, even though the Bios has been set to boot from CD drive - using the Acer Notebook Manager.

I cannot access the bios by holding down [Del] (the standard key) or [F2] (the key that seems to work for some other Acer notebooks).

I am looking for the best way to boot up of a CD, or guide on how to do this from a Floppy, in order to remove Win Xp, format the drive and reinstall Windows 2000.
