Question : help, need recover files on HD, accident format

I was building my new computer, I had it ready with XP, and the install was done. Afterwards I downloaded a bunch of pictures to try from my digital camera and forgot to keep them in my camera!!
I blanked the partition later and started over for a different reason, and realized I lost the pictures!!!
No real through format has been done, only the partition was removed,
anyway  can recover the files?? pictures?
they are still there somewhere....

Lost and Found
