Question : Windows XP Professional Setup Error 32769, Disk Drives Not Recognized

New Install of WinXP Pro
New Motherboard = Intel D875PBZ
New Disk Drives = WD SATA connected to Adaptec SATA RAID 2410SA, RAID-1/Mirrored

Steps to re-create:
1)boot from WinXP-Pro/SP1 CD
NOTE: During boot, screen displays information that the Adaptec controller is working properly
and properly displays the hard drive configuration and size.
2)F6 to install Adaptec drivers (from floppy and as per Adaptec installation instructions)
NOTE: Windows Setup displays Adaptec RAID Controller for selection
3)Setup continues and appears to be working properly

ERROR: An unexpected error (32769) occurred at line 5152 in d:\xpsp1\base\boot\setup\setup.c.
            Press and key to continue

4)Setup continues and appears to be working correctly

ERROR: Setup did not find any hard drives install in your computer.
Make sure any hard drives are powered on and properly connected...
Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3.
NOTE: F3 is the only option available.

I did a search on Microsoft for error 32769, but only came up with something about a Rise of Nations (what ever that is) KB article.

Thanks for any help.  I am trying to setup this computer this weekend.

Answer : Windows XP Professional Setup Error 32769, Disk Drives Not Recognized

Hi Slator,

Both drives are fully wiped clean?
You have the latest driver from Adaptec?
What is exactly on the floppy disk? inf, sys, vxd files?

Otherwise try to do an install with only 1 drive and later add the other drive and make the system raid 1.
(never tried the above by myself but since you're stuck it wont hurt to try)

Cheers!
regards,
