Question : Selling My Computer / Change Registry?
I'm selling my computer and have been advised by several people to COMPLETELY change all REGISTRY files to show the new user; as a security measure. How do I accomplish this task? Thanks is advance!

I agree with richcrumble... there are just too many ways that your data can be retrieved; even if you think you have deleted it. Unless the files on your hard disk have been overwritten with a file shredder or DOD-level disk overwrite utility, your personal data files can be retrieved. And you have to ask yourself if you are bundling in your software licenses in with the computer sale. If not, then why leave it to chance? Far easier to replace the hard drive with a new one and install Windows and any other software for the buyer of your computer. You can always burn a CD of some applications such as Adobe Acrobat that are freeware and give that to the person who is purchasing your system.
If not, then at least do the following:
1. backup your data files to CDR or some other media, such as another hard drive. (believe me, you might want to keep some data, better to backup)
2. run a disk overwrite utility such as Active Kill first. You can get the free version of ActiveKill here:
http://www.killdisk.com/
3. reformat your hard drive
4. reinstall Windows
