Question : How to recreate default user profile
|
|
We have been running our Citrix Servers for around 2 years. Over that time we have been slowly modifying the default user profile to apply customisations to users. We have now noticed that our default user profile has a problem which is: a.) Preventing roaming profiles being unloaded (have tried UPHClean) b.) Outlook names cache has stopped working (Nk2 files are not being generated).
I have been able to isolate both of these problems to a problem with the default user profile. Unfortunately I do not have a backup of the unmodified default user profile. Is there a way to regenerate the default user profile?
Thanks.

Answer : How to recreate default user profile

Hi dbtaustralia,
I have recreated Windows XP default user profile by deleting the contents of the default user folder - but not the actual folder itself. Try moving these files to a backup folder (rather than simply deleting them) and log in with a new account to see if this fixes your problem.
Also maybe you can copy the Administrator profile (or another good working profile) over top of the default user profile? Don't just copy the files - right click on My Computer, Properties, and on the Advanced tab go into the User Profiles Settings. Then select the good profile, click Copy To, and browse to the default user profile. You probably need "show hidden files" ticked and you probably want to back up the default user profile before you do this.
Cheers, Daniel
