Question : GeForce 6800 GS crashes vista x64 ultimate

Hello.
I need help troubleshooting my video card problems.
GeForce 6800 GS video and Vista ultimate 64-bit.
Every time i run an experience index scan, screen goes off at around "media playback ability" (if i remember right) for 5 min. Then it quickly flashes back on saying some driver crashed, then goes to blue screen, does memory dump and reboots saying that NVIDIA drivers caused a problem.  Sometimes screen never comes back on.
Somehow aero seems to run though.  But i don't know how serious this is (or if it has any link to halo2 crashing on load, but i assume its because it needs better hardware).

It did the same thing during vista installation.  I noticed that microsoft had its own driver set which i replaced with latest drivers on nvidia site 7.15.11.6925 from 12/11/2007, but no difference.

Other info: P4M900 micro 775 motherboard. Pentium D processor. 1GB memory.

Thanks for any info.

oh poo.
then I would raise it with microsoft (good luck) - presumably you have the latest drivers, etc...etc.,..
is the card certified for vista?
I've found soooo many little problems with vista, I only have itas a test machine to try out ideas on. as most corporates have done the same as we wait for the service pack (soon I hope)

the only options are to go through the settings of the graphics card and disable all the hardware accleration and sppeds, etc.. to see what helps.
