I am using exchagne server 2003 in Windows SBS 2003. All updates and Service packs are applied. Starting last thursday certain emails starting getting "stuck" in the outgoing que. If I force the connections most emails will go but then ohters will start to fill up. There appears to be no pattern. I have installed a smart host, removed the smart host, tried masquerading. Still the emails get stuck. I have the same issue happeningon other unrealted servers. The only common thing is they all use Bell South DSL. All servers have static IPs. If I click on the stuck email in the que window they mostly say this below "An SMTP protocol error occurred.". Event manager occasionally says, "A non-delivery report with a status code of 5.3.0 was generated for recipient rfc822;[email protected] (Message-ID <6C1C0B5B8BE27D49A59542F078564C6F07CF13@SERVER1.invest.local>). Causes: Exchange mistakenly attempted mail delivery to an incorrect MTA route. For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp. Solution: Check your route and topology; use the winroute tool to ensure the routes are properly replicated between servers and routing groups. or "A non-delivery report with a status code of 4.0.0 was generated for recipient rfc822;[email protected]m (Message-ID <6C1C0B5B8BE27D49A59542F078564C6F07CECE@SERVER1.invest.local>). ".

Did you already check on www.intodns.com. Do you get back any red cells? 5.3.0 means that it could be bounced because is might be recognized as spam. Check also www.mxtoolbox.com to do some checks on your dns.
