Question : NetApp Exchange Snap Shot - EDB is in "Dirty Shutdown" state

We use NetApp Snap Manager to backup Exchange 2007 EDB.
But, when I try to mount the EDB, it says the EDB is in "Dirty Shutdown" state. I ran "eseutil /mh" on the EDB and it does say its in "Dirty Shutdown" state.
I am trying to mount the EDB in my recovery site, I do not have a Netapp at the recovery site.
It will take me many hours to run "esetuil /p" to bring the EDB back to normal state, that's not good during disaster recover.

Has anyone able to mount a EDB from Netapp SnapManager backup?

Answer : NetApp Exchange Snap Shot - EDB is in "Dirty Shutdown" state

It depends on what type of method you are using to create the snapshot.

If you use an exchange 2007 aware vss writer, it will ensure that all the transaction logs are commited and then freezes the database long enough to create the snapshot. That means the edb is in a consistant state before it's being backed up.

If you disk is just doing a split type command, you will get an inconsistant database state.
