Question : Cannot get Net Install Images to install

Hello - I have been bashing my head against a wall trying to get the Net Install on an XServer running OSX Server v. 10.4.11 to work and I just can't get it to.
I managed to get it to work ONCE but cannot figure out how I managed it.
I have about 50 Machines between Desktop Emacs and laptop iBook G4's that I am trying to image and I don't want to do it one by one via firewire.

Here is what I have tried so Far.
I get the image ready on the source machine and reboot it into Target Disk Mode while connected via Firewire to the Imaging Sever.
I go into System Image Utility, Choose New Install, Select the image Source as the HDD from the source machine, Set the Lang, put in the info for the Enable automated Installation and add the Model filter as well as give it a name and a Image Index #.
I then hit create image and Save it in the folder where all the other images are.
About an hour later it tells me the image is complete, so I boot up another machine of the same type, go into sys prefs and choose Startup Disk and choose the Net Install image I just created.  I set it to use this image and have it reboot.
It reboots and starts the install but as soon as it gets to the installation step it goes for about 2 seconds and then says that the imaging is complete.  There is no way the image finished that fast, they are around 10 GBs.
The machine then reboots and is in the same state as it was before (IE did not install the image).

I have also tried using Disk Utility to create the disk image, then using System Image utilty again pointing it to the created image but get the same issue.

Any help would be fantastic!

Thanks.

Answer : Cannot get Net Install Images to install

The problem lies in the version of Tiger imaging utility.  Apple calls this an "undocumneted" feature and it is.  I found ths out the hard way.  You need to get the system image utility for 10.4.6. This is what I was told by Apple Enterprise Support, as there was a problem with the hdutil  command or something along those lines(been a while).

You basically have to show package contents from the downloaded server update package to get the 10.4.6 image utility app.

Try that.
