Question : Adobe InDesign on OSX....

I'm running into an issue with Adobe InDesign on OSX... I need to increase the allocation of memory to the program, but I'm unsure where to go.

This is urgent, so I've assigned high point value.

Answer : Adobe InDesign on OSX....

Hi NJguy,

From Adobe's support, QUOTE:

By default, InDesign is set to use 20 MB of RAM. To optimize performance, increase this value.

When InDesign starts, it checks for available memory (i.e., memory beyond what the system, any open applications, and its own preferred partition use). InDesign requires an additional 1 MB of RAM with virtual memory enabled and an additional 20 MB of RAM with virtual memory disabled. When allocating memory to InDesign, keep this extra amount in mind and consider the memory requirements of other applications that you want to have open at the same time.

To determine available memory and allocate memory to InDesign:

1. Restart your computer but do not start any applications.

2. Choose About This Computer from the Apple Menu.

3. Note the value for Largest Unused Block.

4. Locate the InDesign application icon in the Finder and select it, but do not start InDesign.

5. Choose File > Get Info > Memory.

6. Increase the value in the Preferred Size field to half the value you noted in step 3. For example, if the largest unused block is 100 MB, enter 50 MB (50,000K) in the Preferred Size field.

7. Close the Get Info dialog box and then start InDesign.

Note: If you change the InDesign memory allocation and InDesign still reports that memory is insufficient, restart the computer to reset the system memory.

I hope this helps.

Good Vibes!
