Question : Exchange 2007 runs very slow in vmware

I'm running Exchange 2007 in a test lab and the server runs extremely slow in vmware. The last time I loaded it in vmware, I found a tip on the internet to modify one of the exe.config files to stop the extensive monitoring that exchange does. It ran like a top after that.

Does anyone know what modification I'm talking about? I've been searching for 2 hours now and kicking myself for not writing it down last time. Thanks!

I am not aware of any modification of that type.
Exchange 2007 is very power hungry, I use VMWARE heavily myself but haven't seen any serious performance issues - if I give the product enough resources in the first place.
