Question : Noscript tag and Google penalizing
Hi X-perts,
A lot of discussions on the net regarding hidden tags, but I still cannot find a definite answer:
1. I am using a jscript flash detection (Macromedia kit), while the plain html page content is placed between
tags.
2. I wanted to combine a flash intro and the text content searchable by the SE in one page, because my 1st page has a highest PR rank.
3. Google's boot has spidered this page a few days ago and it seems that everthing is OK and this structure is not penalized so far
As the hidden tags like noscript have been abused by spammers, I have a few questions:
1. There are rumors that search engines treat the text between
or
tags differently, i.e. not the same weight as a normal html. Is that true?<br />2. Can such a structure be banned or penalized? The content between <noscript> tags is just a full html page with all layers, formattings etc.<br />3. Can someone share the experience of SEO of flash intro pages?<br />4. Placing your text content between those tags might benefit a flash site itself, but depending on how the search engine bots treat that tag and it's contents it could also be a little risky and yet also benefit you by placing text links within the noscript tag too. <br /><br />If you were working on a menu item, you then could use the <object> tag and have no problems with the search engines. In addition, you could try inserting a unique telephone number into your noscript tag and see if the engines pick that number up. I'm gathering though you will be okay. <br /><br />Depending on the search engine, anything can occur from the engines reading all of the content and text links; not follow flash links; ignore the tag or perhaps even see large amounts of text as spam, etc. I don't believe your PR value will be lower because of the use of the tags.<br /><br />If you are having success now, then I think it would be fine.
