Question : faulting application wmiprvse.exe, problem on windows 2003 DC
|
|
Hi all,
I am experiencing a problem with a server I maintain where the application event viewer reports the following error:
"Reporting queued error: faulting application wmiprvse.exe, version 5.2.3790.1830, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.3790.1830, fault address 0x00038efa."
Generally this seemed to occur once over nigth at the same time and apperently was not causing any operational issues. Recently we had the server stop responding to nay network requests during the day and the last event in the event viewer was this error. Now it may have been co-incidence however I feel it probably is isn't and needs to be resolved.
The server itself is running Windows 2003 SP1 , is a DC with DNS and DHCP. no other applications apart from Symantec AV enterprise. the server is used purely as a DC and file and print.
Anyone have any ideas on how I may be able to track the culprit of this error and resolve it
thanks

Wmiprvse.exe crashes in low-memory conditions in Windows Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;835438
Maybe that the issue. The fix is not (!) in the list of solved problems with SP1. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=824721
The update isn't available for direct download, but if you contact MS you should get the update free of charge even if you have no service agreement.
