Question : need to know how to create a "fade effect" using Action Script 3.0

I just received a great solution for this question, however, it was in AS 2 and is not compatible with the script I have already written in Action Script 3.0. It worked wonderfully in Action Script 2 and was wondering if there was a similar solution in Action Script 3.0.
I am trying, after a button is clicked and an image shows up on a frame, to get that image on it's frame to "fade in".
