Question : Does Windows 2003 Standard R2 32Bit with 8GB of RAM benefit from /PAE?
|

Hello, I have researched a various web sites to find the fact about the meory utilization of Windows 2003 Standard R2 32Bit with 8GB of RAM with /PAE switch. There are a lot of conflicting and ambiguous articles here and there. I understand that 32 bit W2K3 Standard won't recognize more than 4GM of RAM. I still plugged in total 8GB of RAM in W2K3 Std R2 machine.
Now, My question is simple and expects a binary answer, Yes or No. Does memory utilization of Windows 2003 Standard R2 32 Bit with 8GB of RAM ( even if it recognizes 4GB only) benefit from /PAE switch?
I really appreciate someone's clear answer.
Thanks,

Unfortunately, Microsoft built a 4GB limit in STD edition of Win Srv 2003. Here's their matrix on physical memory support: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEdrv.mspx
So the answer from Microsoft is: no; Server 2003 Standard cannot access more than 4GB of RAM.
