Question : Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them

Hi,

Looking for some much needed help. Been researching this problem with no luck. Here's the problem:

Currently, we are Citrix Metaframe 1.8 (three servers) on Windows 2000 SP4. When a user logins into Citrix, their profile gets pulled from a different server and their desktop icons are pulled from a network share via AD Policy (desktop redirect). The permissions on the icons are read-only so they can't delete them. This works perfect in this environment with no issues.

Now I'm in the process of installing Citrix Presenetation Server 4 on three new servers with Windows 2003 R2. Everything is installed and when I have a user log in and double-click on one of their desktop icons, they get, "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them." If the user browses to the actual executable via My Computer, they can run the program. Any ideas why?

Thanks!

Yes, but the shortcuts themselves are coming from a network location.
Have you tried adding the server that hosts the shortcuts to the Local Intranet sites in IE properties?
