Question : Remove Exchange 2007 - Clustered Mail Box Servers

Hello -

I need to remove 2 "Bad installs" of Ex CCR Clustered mail box servers. The problem that i have is that the systems that were used to create the 2 (different) clusters both crashed. They were vms.

The 2 servers (vms) that crashed were 2003 R2 VM's - the cluster was setup and 1 mailbox was moved except then shortly after that the mailbox servers crashed.

I need to know how to forceibally remove the 2 Clustered mailbox servers from the Ex 2007 Orginization?

Please Advise...

Robert

Answer : Remove Exchange 2007 - Clustered Mail Box Servers

The only supported method to remove servers is to do a DR install. That means resetting the computer account in the domain - DO NOT DELETE THE COMPUTER ACCOUNT - then building replacement machines with the same name and adding them to the domain.
Then install Exchange 2007 using the /recoverserver switch.

Once done, you then remove Exchange correctly using add/remove programs.
