Question : Outlook 2003 stays disconnected from exchange server

SBS 2003 network with 12 clients running outlook 2003.  All clients are online and working fine except for one.   I have one client who's outlook suddenly failed to connect to the exchange server 3 days ago.  Everything else works from this workstation including access to shared folders, etc., however outlook stays disconnected and we receive the error message "cannot find the exchange server".  Logging on as a different user to this workstation will give the same result even if trying to logon to a different mailbox so there must be an issue with this client's connectivity to exchange.   I can ping the mail server from the client.  I tried deleting the exchange account in outlook and recreating it but configuring the new exchange mail account will fail because "outlook must be connected" or "cannot find exchange server". We also receive and send mail from this client via POP3 mail account configuration and sending and receiving POP mail works fine, but not the exchange server account.  Outlook cannot resolve to the  server "servername.mycompany.com" and cannot find or resolve the user name.

The workstation has been scanned and cleaned for malware.  I have removed any antivirus programs, firewall, etc..  Any help would be appreciated.

Answer : Outlook 2003 stays disconnected from exchange server

Hrm...

If setting up any profile on this machine has the same problem, and re-installing Outlook does not help.
Would begin to think this problem is PC related not Outlook related.

Assuming all DNS and Network Settings Are Correct, User Accounts have appropriate permissions both on the network and local PC...

Personally I would backup anything I could.

De-join the PC from the Network.
Remove the computer from AD
Re-Add the computer and see if it fixes the issue.

If it doesnt, I would then try repairing the OS and most likely Rebuild.
