Question : Uncompressing a compressed hard drive

I used drvspace to compress my hard drive. At first, I seemed to have lost everything. Then I was able to get into Windows safe mode. I get all kinds of error messages during bootup, including one that says drvspace.vxd and drvspace.??? are not compatible and that I should get the latest version (from Plus!). Although the drvspace on my computer is the one I used to compress my hard drive, it won't let me uncompress it. Even when I tried to reformat my HD, I was told to use drvspace. What's going on here? How can I get my computer back to full functioning?
