Question : Recovery Storage Group problem

I have Windows server 2000, AD, and Exchange 2003 SP2.
I have followed the MS documentation to create a RSG and created it successfully.  I named it "Recovery Storage Group", I pointed it to the FIrst Storage Group.  I defined the database and logs to be located in c:\program files\exchsrvr\recovery storage group.  The Recovery Storage Group in Exchange contains the Mailbox Store object but that is empty, it does not contain logins or mailboxes.  The RSG is not mounted and when I attempt to mount it I get the message:

"Warning: If you mount this database before you restore it from backup, Exchange will create a new checkpoint and transaction log files that are ont compatible with restored dataabse.  Remove these checkpoint and transaction log files before you restore the database from backup."

I have attempted a restore of the Mailbox Store (MyServer) and the restore (using BUE 10d) was successful but there is nothing in the RSG in System Manager.  There are edm and stm files in hte RSG folder that were placed there from the restore.

What am I missing here??  Why can't I mount the RGS?  Whay are there no objects within the RGS object.

Thanks!

Answer : Recovery Storage Group problem

Hi

Please refer to this article and check if the backup that you have tried to restore from to the RSG was taken before applying service pack to the exchange server or was it after the sp was applied.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930241/en-us

Also when you tried to start the restore did you chose the option to overwrite the database and bring it online.
