Question : What is best for SEO? Whole site or partial site secure?

I am working on a website that provides information and sells a product. It has many pages of original content, but it also has an e-commerce section where customers may make instant purchases with a credit card.

The payment section of the website must use secure socket layers (https://)

Should I make the ENTIRE website secure so all content must be accessed using secure socket layers or should I make only the section that sells something secure?

I think that the process would be more seamless if the entire website was secure however I am worried that securing the entire site could have adverse SEO implications.

Could you please let me know if there is anything I should be aware of regarding https and SEO?

Answer : What is best for SEO? Whole site or partial site secure?

Most search engines are not be able to search secure pages. It's also for your business and your customer safety that no secured web pages should be store out somewhere. It should store the transaction info only during the transaction. After, it should store in secured database.

For the purpose of SEO, you want search engines search and being able to read and store your content, which doesn't contain and personal sensitive data. The more content you let search engines to search and read with, the high search engine ranking you could attain with.

In summary, only the ecommerce payment portion should be secured. The product portion please make sure using regular http page and do SEO work to have a better SEO rank.
