Question : MS Access does not connect to MS SQL 2008 through ODBC

We have an Access front end going tru ODBC to a MS SQL 2000 server.

We are upgrading to SQL 2008. ODBC / Test connection to SQL 2008 connects fine.

If I refresh the links in Access it brings up ODBC and after entering the password it jumps to the beginning of the setup and won't finish.

If I set up a new  empty database it connects, but when I open the linked table there are no data.

SQL2008 runs on Srv 2008. MS Access 2003 and 2007 both have same problem and run  XP SP3 and SP2 machines.

Any ideas?

Answer : MS Access does not connect to MS SQL 2008 through ODBC

I checked this on my machine, when I connect with SQL 2005 native client, I can access the 2008 server with no problems (32 + 64 Bit.

If I use the SQL 2000 driver, I see only one of two 32 Bit instances

So check first, which driver you have on your client, may be you simply need a newer ODBC driver.
