Question : svchost.exe startup error

I have a Acer TravelMate 4670 with XP Pro  that is having a svchost.exe error mesage along with a generic host process error after starting up.  This is a completly fresh reload only a day old.  I have tried kb article #894391 but have not had any luck.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  I had this problem with a dell laptop earlier but the KB article took care of the issue.
