Question : Windows Vista recognized printer and installed drivers, but it won't print.

I had to get a new computer, it has Windows Vista.  When I plugged my printer into the USB port Vista recognized it and installed the drivers.  When I try to print something it says Vista says it is sending it ant the display on the printer shows nothing.  Also it pops up in the print queue for about a second.  I've checked the Brother website for and Vista driver downloads but they only have what the call "built in" drivers and no plans to release "Brother original drivers."  My new computer is a HP Pavilion dv2000.

I found the Print Server Properties area, but when I select the driver for the Brother Printer the Add and Remove buttons remain greyed out.  I did select Propeties and found a list of appoximately 12 files associated with the diver located in C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3 which I deleted.  I then rebooted my computer and tried to Remove the driver again to no avail.  I then connected my printer again whereupon the approx. 12 files associated with the driver were automatically downloaded into C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3.  I then retried the Remove procedure to no effect.  The buttons were still greyed out.  The printer still does not work, however there is something going on because when I try to print something the printer "warms up", the fan kicks on, but nothing happens after that.

Answer : Windows Vista recognized printer and installed drivers, but it won't print.

I found the solution myself at the Brother website:

I did not see this solution when I first started working this problem, but it's there now.
