Question : How to turn off case-sensitivity in Sybase Adaptive Server?
|
|
I have a database in Sybase Adaptive Server. I want to change my database to case-insensitive option. I went through the below steps to change the database to case-insensitive option. (1) Go to Server Config Editor of Sybase (2) Click "Configure Adaptive Server" button (3) Provide necessary Server and authentication information (4) Click "Language" button. (5) Go to "Sort Order" and click "Set Default" button (6) Select "Dictionary Order, case-insensitive, accent-insensitive" from available list (7) Click OK and Save
But the modification I made as above didn't change at all. The server reset the value back to default value.
As a result, I backup my database and reinstall my Sybase Server. And again went through like the above steps. The modification I made this time is changed in the Sybase Adaptive Server and the server change to case-insensitive mode.
But I can't restore back my backup database to the server which now is with case-insensitive mode while my backup database is case-sensitive mode. The error message said "The sort order of the server is 44 and the sort order of my backup database is 50". As a result, restoring database process fail.
How can I solve this problem?
Thanks.

I am away from my machines but, if memory serves, it is call the .cfg You should also see a bunch of .0## files that are old copies Sybase has archived.
It is in different places depending on what O/S you are running.
