Question : Windows Mobile 5/6 DSP Group TrueSpeech(TM) playback needed
|
|
I have some WM5/6 phones that need to be able to play .WAV files in the DSP Group TrueSpeech(TM) codec. The user's voicemail messages are sent in this format/codec to their email accounts, but are unable to play this codec using Windows Media 10 Mobile for Pocket PC. When the user's try playing the .WAV file in the codec mentioned above they get the following error "Cannot play back the audio stream: the audio format is not supported".
These .WAV files play just fine on the user's WinXP computers so I know the .WAV files themselves are not corrupted, I believe this is a codec issue.
I need the end result to be where the user's can click on the .WAV attachment in their email on their WM device and hear the audio. I have searched this site and Google to find third party players and so far I have no results. That is why I now turn to the experts. Your help is highly appreciated.

I am not farmiliar with that telephone system so I can not guide you in one way or another with it. Of course your two easiest solutions would be choosing a different format from the VM system itself or finding an application that can play TrueSpeech files on the Mobile.
If those two options are exhausted some possibly long work arounds could include software that strips attachments from the message, converts the file to an acceptable format (say mp3) and then forwards it on. Or you could look into a service that does this for you like: http://www.magikinfo.com/vm2wm/
