Question : Two Exchange Servers, Split domain?

Hi,
We have a two completely separate SBS Server 2003 networks. The networks are not connected in any way, separate internet connections etc.

Each network has a SBS server with Exchange 2003. We would like to share the same domain between the two servers home how.

so

[email protected] goes to company 1 server
[email protected] goes to company 1 server
[email protected] goes to company 2 server
[email protected] goes t company 2 server

We plan on mirroring our MX records with an MX backup/relay service soon, so if a server goes down both can receive email.

The first solution I came up with was to forward all invalid email to company1.com to the company2.com server. Problem with that: company1.com exchange server goes down, company 2 still needs to be able to receive email.

What solution can I use to split the domain the way I want, and be compatible with a MX backup service such as mailhop.

Thanks!
Travis

Answer : Two Exchange Servers, Split domain?

I have done this successfully before, using this guide - be warned though, it was one of the suckiest experiences I have gone through, and was only temporary until they bought the full fat windows and exchange versions - that said, it worked fine.
