Question : Outlook client is slow to load messages from exchange server
|
|
I have exchange server 5.5, running on a windows 2000 server box. My users use outlook 2000 to load their emails from the exchange server.
One particular user is having a lot of trouble with slow message loading.
We he clicks a message to open it, outlook fetches it from exchange I believe, this is taking up to 30 seconds, for emails without large or any attachments. It takes so long in fact that a warning window pops up saying the message is slow to load.
Also, when he clicks on a message and presses delete it can take up to 2 minutes for that one message to be deleted?
This is only happening for this one user, none of the other 20 users report any problems at all.
Any idea what is causing this? Where can I start looking to diagnose this problem? I'm certain that it is specific to this user's workstation.

Answer : Outlook client is slow to load messages from exchange server

WINS/DNS settings, bad NIC, bad cable, corrupted profile in Outlook, bad client-side rules. Anything, almost. Client side rules is worth checking, verify the correct IP configuration, and DNS suffix for that PC, even go as far as moving the cableport he connects to on the switch to a different port, if available.
