Question : Stub mailbox left behind after move to another server
|
|
Something strange that I have never seen before in all my years with Exchange. I have two Exchange 2003 SP2 servers and I built two new ones on improved hardware. I migrated over a few users for testing. Everything went fine and the users had no issues at all. Today, I noticed that there are traces or stubs of the moved mailboxes still on the original server. They have a red flag on them and they are only a fraction in size of the original. I tried to purge this mailbox and I get a message saying it is already connected to an existing user even though its marked for deletion. Of course, I cannot reconnect it for the same reason. Two questions. Why is this happening? I have moved thousands of mailboxes and never saw this. How do I get rid of these? I won't be able to decommssion these servers until I remove these mailboxes. This is a show stopper for me because I still have about 2000 more mailboxes to migrate.
