Question : Partition XP Drive: Combine two partitions when temp install files are residing on C:
I have a new Asus netbook; it's delivered with a 160 gig hd that's partitioned into C: & D:, roughly equally. I'm trying to do a new install of XP Pro, and, as part of the process, I'd like to make the C: partition much bigger and the D:\ partition smaller.
I've figured out that I needed to delete the current D: partition, that leaves me with "unused space". But, I can't just make the C:\ partition bigger. It seems to me that XP Pro setup would like me to delete the C: partition also, then, create a new C:, specifying how large I want it. BUT, the current "C" has some temp files needed for the installation, and therefore I'm prevented from deleting the current C.
There *had* to be a way to do it. What am I missing here?
Thanks!

You can't use native tools to repartition the size of XP. Once the OS is installed you have to either blow it out or you can install something like partition magic to resize the C partition.
