Question : Why can't Norton Ghost 12.0 connect to the Norton Ghost service?

I've installed Norton Ghost 12.0 on a Windows XP SP2 PC.  From the start there were problems of getting it activated. Finally, I could do that. But then it does not connect to the associated Norton Ghost service for Windows.  And before a Windows restart, I get a VProSvc.exe error, and further such errors after log-in. Further, if I try to stop or restart the running Ghost service, I get a runtime error.

Is there a fix for this?
