Question : Print job shuts down computer
I have a fairly new HP 4240 connected parallel, that sometimes when i send a print job will cause the computer to reboot. Today it was a certain excel file that caused it. Computer would boot up fine but when went to print that file it would reboot. I changed the ram thinking that might be the problem but it happened the very next time. I then shut down the printer and booted it back up and the problem seems to be gone for now, but i'm sure it will be back. I have never heard of a printer shutting down the computer, any suggestions on what to look for?

The first thing I'd say is to *never* use the parallel port for printing. It slows down not only the printer, but the PC as well. Use either a network connection or usb.
Next I would completely reinstall the driver. To do that, go to Start > Printers and Faxes. First delete the printer. Then, from the File menu, select Server Properties. Click on the drivers tab and remove all instances of the printer from there. Now reinstall the printer driver.
