Question : How do I direct remote host logs to a certain file
Hi all,
I have a few Cisco routers that configured to send their syslog messages to a remote CentOS 4.4 Server CD machine.
The syslog messages arriving at my Linux machine are automatically go to /var/log/messages file.
Is there a way I can configure /etc/syslog.conf (or any other relevant configuration file) so syslog messages coming from my Cisco routers will go to another log file? for example /var/log/cisco1 and etc?
Thanks in advance
Yaron

You can't do this with syslog. Consider changing your syslog to syslog-ng, with which you will be able to achieve what you want (
