Question : BIOS configuration

I need to configure a server that will combine all 8 SAS disks into one utilizing RAID 0 for performance reasons. In the BIOS menu how do I combine the 8 physical disks into one "virtual" disk?

If I successfully do this I should be able to partition my Linux filesystems across all 8 disks? Is this advisable, since I will be backing this server up on a nightly basis to a SATA beast?

Answer : BIOS configuration

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/storage/CS6CH/en/ug/dell_cee.htm

that is how to enter the bios and setup a raid.

Once setup though the bios your system /OS will see the drive as 1 large HD and the bios does the rest.

that also assumes that you purchased the appropriate raid controller for the system.
