Question : How to reduce a print screen to a smaller size
|
|
I need to reduce some print screens that I have pasted into Fireworks CS3. What are the steps required to resize a printscreen that is larger than 255X174, but the final file size is 255X174 without any of the image cutoff. Thanks.

You can do this inside of Fireworks.
Zoom out from your image enough that you can see some space around all four sides of your canvas.
Select one of the print screen objects that you have pasted, to make it active, by clicking on that object in the layers pallet.
Now select the scale tool (just below the black pointer in the tool bar). This will make the control points on the corners of your pasted image appear. If the object is larger than your canvas size, they will be outside the edges of your canvas (this is why you zoomed out).
Grab one of these control points, and holding down the shift and the Alt keys, drag towards the center until your object is the size that your need.
Repeat for each print screen object that you have pasted.
HINT. Holding down the shift key while you scale makes objects scale proportionally. Holding down the Alt key while you drag causes the object to expand or contract from its center instead of from the corner. (a nice feature when you are trying to get all four sides inside the edges of your canvas.
