Question : Deleting Retropsect Helper Service

In the Event Log it gives and error that Retrospect Helper service couldn't start.  I think this is leftover from some Retrospect software that we tried years ago but couldn't get technical support for.  I had removed the trial software a long time ago. Is there a way to delete this service so it doesn't think it should start? Would this have to be taken out of the registry?

Answer : Deleting Retropsect Helper Service

Check for a Retrospect entry in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

Change the Start Dword data value to 4 (0x00000004) and the service should not start.

Otherwise - see if you can find the software, reinstall, then uninstall again.
