Question : Outlook Anywhere NTLM authentication
|
|
I set up Outlook Anywhere(Exc 2007) with basic authentication in a LAB and it works fine. My question is about NTLM authentication being allowed by a Cisco PIX 515E(6.3). Please do not quit reading yet since this is not the CISCO area. "Sembee" answered this on a question about OA with NTLM back in 2006:
"I don't use ISA in any configuration. I have deployed RPC over HTTPS lots of times with real firewalls. Cisco PIX and Watchguards accept it with very little configuration"
Could Sembee or another expert reply with config detail about that "very little configuration" ? I know that port 443 needs to be open. Please be specific on particular commands to enable NTLM authentication thru the CISCO firewall, if any.
Thanks

Very little configuration meaning none. I have used Outlook with NTLM authentication for a few years. You do have to ensure that the authentication type is set on the /rpc virtual directory as well. Port 443 is the only port that needs to be open.
Simon.
