Question : Windows 2003 Group Policy - My Documents Folder redirection to Home Folder - AD User home folder set

I have users with a home folder. For example: User1 has their home folder z:\ to \\server\share\user1 and its empty for now. The user logs in, they have a mapped drive z:\ to their home folder \\server\share\user1. Windows XP automatically knows and maps their home folder, very good. I want to redirect the My Documents for the user to their home folder, via a group policy. I went into the GP editor and set it to "Basic - Redirect to the users home folder". When I log into a machine, it doesnt change the My Documents folder, it points back to the default C:\docs and settings\%username%\My docs place.

Some help here please, thanks.

Answer : Windows 2003 Group Policy - My Documents Folder redirection to Home Folder - AD User home folder set

check resultant set of policy (no one is on a link slower than 512kbps is there?)

See what policies are being applied to XP

First
Click Start >run >cmd {enter}
gpupdate /force {enter}
Let the client reboot.

After a reboot
Click Start >run>mmc {enter}
File>add/remove snap in >add
Add in the “Resultant set of policy”
