Question : photometric lights in 3dsmax 7 - can't render on amd

I have several PCs n my office and I just found out that the new photometric lights in 3dsmax 7 dont render on AMD machines - they render fine on INTEL.
Any clues about what this bug is about?

no they are custom built and use Nvidia cards - I just found one AMD that does render, the only difference is OS XP instead of 2000... could it be the culprit?
