Question : symantec, norton ghost 10, cloned drive will not boot, cloned drive would boot to start up screen xp but no sign in icons
|

i just cloned my main drive using ghost 10 but when i swapped the drives (leaving only the cloned drive), it booted to the start screen >no icons , nothing, nil, nada. upon looking on the net i find all sorts of solutions (ha ha ha) . i decided on fdisk /mbr. the drive did show up in the bios, the drive was maked D drive. but i remenbered using fdisk/mbr before. and i was right , aha. after using fdisk/ mbr the drive letter changed to c. and it boot too. did anyone use a different solution? i thought of changin the drive letter but remenbered fdisk mbr would do that. sincerely brian osullivan

Hello! The possible reason is that cloned drive gets drive letter assingments which will be propogated if you run from your source drive even once after the cloning. It can be very tricky but after your original hard dirve is being cloned - dont boot it again before you detach your mirrored drive. I would rather try this piece of software: http://www.paragon-software.com/business/db-server-express/ or this trial version should also be able to clone the drive. http://www.paragon-software.com/home/db-personal/download.html
