Question : Best Place to Buy Laptops? (online web shopping for notebooks)
|
|
I figure this question has been asked approximately 40 million times on EE, but I might as well ask again because these threads tend to become outdated.
For a long time I've been buying laptops for other people. My main resources were pricewatch.com , shopping.com , newegg.com , and outlet.dell.com , but I've found over the years that no one really beats the Dell Outlet prices. I've really tried looking (and during the "everybody hates Dell" phase, I REALLY tried looking), but I haven't come up with any laptops that beat Dell Outlet's prices AND offer the same kind of warranty you'd get on a new laptop.
For instance, I wanted to get a Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM and Vista Home Premium or better. Dell Outlet had one (on June 21, 2007) for $800 (and free shipping). Nobody came even close to that!
Anyways, I'm not asking which brand is the best, but- which resource is the best?
Have I missed a site? Ma

For home / student user's I have used HP / Compaq's purchased through Circuit City. 1.8ghz cpu, 1gb mem, 15.4" wide screen = $469.. plus 4 year no questions asked warranty ($279).. final cost -> $748us.
My experience has been that HP / Compaq service is outstanding. My experience has also been that you ARE going to need it, as Laptops are not the heartiest of creatures. (The only poor Laptop durability exception I have found are IBM laptops.. which can really take a beating)
