Question : Setting up a proper backup plan for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003

I have recently installed Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 on my Exchange Server 2003 server and am trying to figure out a good backup plan. I need help creating a plan that will backup the proper files and folders that would allow me to restore everything and be ok.  I know the main folders to backup for Exchange but am not sure if thats all I need to have a solid backup. Any help with documentation for all I need to setup in my backup would be great!
Thanks,
Zach

Answer : Setting up a proper backup plan for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003

The useful things to backup are the Information stores, Public Stores and log files which Backup Exec will happily do for you if you have the Exchange agent for Backup Exec.  Without the Exchange agent Backup Exec wont be able to backup the stores whilst they are mounted/in use.

Depending on the size of your Exchange databases you could either do 1 full backup at the end of the week and differential backups for the other days, or do full backups every night if you dont have huge databases.
